Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
- 2 Corinthians 9:7
How richly God has blessed us! Most importantly, God gave us the gift of his Son Jesus, who through his suffering, death, and resurrection won for us eternal life. Yet God does not stop there. Not only does God provide for our spiritual needs, but he also provides for our physical and emotional needs here on earth. Family, friends, home, food, clothing, recreation... God truly is gracious!
In response to God's love for us, Christians give. We give time, talents, and offerings out of thanksgiving to God. We also give so that others can learn about God's love and grace and receive God's salvation.
When it comes to offerings, God does not tell us how much we should give. In the Old Testament the Israelites were given rules about their offerings, but such rules do not apply to us today. Yet God does give us guidelines for giving. He tells us we are to give cheerfully, regularly, and in proportion to what we have been given. To see what the Bible says about giving, read Mark 12:41-44, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, and 2 Corinthians 8 and 9.
To assist our members in determining how much to give, we have as a link below a "Proportional Giving Calculator." This is a Microsoft Excel document. It is meant to be used as a personal tool to help members realize their monetary blessings and how they can show thankfulness to God through offerings. It is not intended to tell anyone how much they should give.
We hope you find the Giving Calculator helpful. If you have any questions about offerings, please do not hesitate to talk to one of the pastors.
