Scott Schwertfeger, Pastor

Each day is a day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in those God-given gifts we receive from him!

How wonderful it is to serve as a pastor among the people of our congregation.  It’s my desire to share Jesus with the people in Arlington, DeForest, Lodi, Poynette, Morrisonville, Rio and all the other little towns that make up the surrounding area.

I am blessed to have my wife Laura, who enriches my ministry and life.  Together we have been blessed with four children.

Prior to coming to Zion, I graduated from Martin Luther College (New Ulm, Minnesota) in 2000 and from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (Mequon, Wisconsin) in 2004.  I also gained experience serving as a vicar – a pastoral intern – two blocks away from Lambeau field at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Green Bay, Wisconsin (2002-2003).  In addition, I served as a pastor for six years at St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Grass Lake, Michigan (2004-2010).

Since that time I have been serving at Zion.  We are fortunate to enjoy a little bit of the country life and a little bit of the small town life while still being a stone’s throw from Madison.  Yet it’s not about the buildings or the cornfields; our happiness is found in the people we serve for Christ.

I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your story.

Jacob Scott, Pastor

Hello, my name is Jacob Scott and I am excited to be one of Zion’s pastors.

I was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Knowing the importance of a Christian education, my parents had me attend St. Stephen’s Lutheran School in Beaver Dam from kindergarten through eighth grade.  From St. Stephen’s, I went on to high school at Luther

Preparatory School in Watertown, Wisconsin. There I became more and more interested in becoming a pastor. After high school, I went to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota where my pastoral studies began. After four years in New Ulm, my pastoral education continued at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin. In my third year as a seminarian, I received my vicar call and served at Mountain of the Lord in Wausau, Wisconsin.  In May 2013 I graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary and received my call to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Lord has truly blessed me with a great education and a wonderful church to serve.

On June 7th 2013, I was blessed to marry my wife Kayla. She graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran College and is a registered nurse. She is currently working at UW hospital. The Lord has blessed us with two children, Lucy and Jack.

I love golfing, biking, hunting and fishing. As a family, the Scotts enjoy the outdoors and cheering for our beloved Wisconsin sports teams. We enjoy being part of the Zion family and look forward to serving you in the future.
