Confirmation Class

Confirmation Class is a Bible-study class for children who are in 6th through 8th grades.  It is taught by Pastor Schwertfeger and meets weekly late Wednesday afternoons during the school year.  The students study the truths of God's Word, the Bible, to strengthen their Christian faith in preparation for leading a Christian life.  Upon completion of this class the children are able to be "confirmed" in the Lutheran faith and join us for Holy Communion.

Some of the topics that are studied include:
  • Who created the world and how
  • How we know that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God
  • Why we need a Savior and who that Savior is
  • The Ten Commandments
  • Luther's Small Catechism
  • What it means to be a Christian in day-to-day life
Confirmation class also provides the opportunity for the students to develop Christian friendships.  People who come to Zion live all around the area and may not necessarily be in the same school district.  Confirmation class gives them the chance to get to know each other.  It also provides the children and our pastor a great way to develop their relationship.  Our pastor is a spiritual helper, teacher, and advisor for everyone at Zion--not just adults.
