Bible Studies for Children
Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
Proverbs 22:6

In Matthew 19:14 we read, "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'"  Children matter to Jesus, and children matter to us at Zion.  We want children to learn about Jesus at Zion, an important way to do this is through age-appropriate Bible study.  Read on to learn more about the Bible studies we have available for children.  Note that you may be able to click on the group's title for more information.

Confirmation Class (click for more info)

Confirmation Class is a Bible-study class for children who are in 6th through 8th grades.  It is taught by Pastor Schwertfeger and meets weekly late Wednesday afternoons during the school year.  The students study the truths of God's Word, the Bible, to strengthen their Christian faith in preparation for leading a Christian life.  Upon completion of this class the children are able to be "confirmed" in the Lutheran faith and join us for Holy Communion.

Sunday School (click for more info)

Sunday School is held from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Sunday mornings throughout the regular school year.  Children ages 4 through 8th grade are invited to attend Sunday School; they are divided into classes by age.  The "Lower Department" includes preschool through second grade, and the "Upper Department" includes grades three through eight.  Each week in Sunday School the children focus on a particular Bible lesson.  They learn how that story applies to them, and they may memorize important Bible passages that focus on the message of that week.  Sunday School also includes music time and may include large group time as well.

Young Adult Bible Study

Zion's Young Adult Bible Study takes place Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. during the regular school year.  This class is designed for those in high school and college.  The studies focus on God's Word and how it applies to the different aspects of one's life as a high school or college student.  You can expect subjects like "Misquoted--7 Things God Never Said," "Gay & God," and "Superheroes!"  It is a time to share questions and concerns and find out what God has to say about them.
