But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
Our worship services are just one way the people of Zion are able to grow in God's Word. Bible study is also extremely important, and we have a variety of classes to hopefully meet everyone's schedules and needs. Below you will find a brief description of the Bible classes that we offer to delve into the Word of God with you. Please note that you may be able to click on the title of the class for additional information. We hope that you will find a class that works for you.
Our Sunday morning adult Bible class takes place from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Sundays during the school year and is led by Pastor Schwertfeger. We meet in the fellowship hall downstairs; all are welcome, and refreshments are provided. This Bible class is designed for anyone high school age or older. It is appropriate for those who are new to Christianity and those who are mature in the faith. The subject matter of this class varies and includes study of various books of the Bible as well as discussion of issues in Christianity. Bring your Bibles and your questions; class participation is encouraged! Young Adult Bible Study
Zion's Young Adult Bible Study takes place Sunday mornings from 9:25 to 10:15 a.m. during the regular school year. This class is designed for those in high school and college. The studies focus on God's Word and how it applies to the different aspects of one's life as a high school or college student. This year you can expect subjects like "Jacob: Losing Yourself to Find Yourself," the book of Colossians, "Generation Fear," and "That's Messed Up." It is a time to share questions and concerns and find out what God has to say about them. Thursday Morning Bible Class (click for more info)
Our Thursday Morning Bible Class is led by Pastor Scott. We meet in the fellowship hall from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. during the school year. All are welcome to join and look into God's Word together. This class tends to be a little smaller in size, which allows for the participants to know each other better and to delve deeper into the Word, but there is always room for one more. We hope you will join us as we build up one another in the faith. Bible Basics (click for more info)
This class is designed for people (members of Zion and non-members) who wish to learn more about basic Bible truths. This in-depth 12-lesson class answers many common questions about Christianity. Upon completion of this class participants have the option to become members of Zion and join us for Holy Communion. Even if you are already a member, this class serves as a great refresher course of what you learned in confirmation class years ago. Contact Pastor Schwertfeger or the church office if you are interested in taking this class. Sessions are based on interest/need and we work to accomodate participants' schedules. Foundation of Our Faith (click for more info)
In this Bible study we look at The Foundation of our Faith, the core teachings of God’s Word upon which all other doctrine is built. What we will study in these lessons is truly fundamental to our peace of mind, indeed, fundamental to our very salvation. This is for members of our congregation and also for non-members who wish to learn more about what the Bible teaches. Upon completion of this class participants have the option to become members of Zion and join us for Holy Communion. Please talk with Pastor Scott if you are interested in taking this class, as sessions are scheduled based upon interest/need. Growth Groups (click for more info)
We invite you to try our Small Group Bible Studies, or "Growth Groups." This avenue of Bible study is designed to help people know one another and grow in faith and knowledge of the Word. It is a smaller gathering of people, usually in a member's home, that offers opportunities to grow in relationships with both our Lord and each other. In general we run three sessions a year with a month off in between for promotion and filling groups. Each session lasts around 2-3 months meeting every other week. However, the schedules may vary due to the church year. Sign up for the next session of Growth Groups in the gathering area at church, or contact the church office for more information. Personal Devotions (click for more info)
In addition to offering a variety of group Bible classes, we try to encourage people to be in the Word on their own or with their individual families. Click on the title above to be linked to daily devotions you can read on your own as well as suggested Bible readings for the day. You can also always contact our pastors for additional suggestions for personal or family devotions.
